Genji Kyoto's design team combines international experience with local expertise. With a deep understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture, each member has chosen to live in Kyoto out of love for the city and its way of life. The team shares a commitment toward making a positive contribution to the transforming neighborhood of Gojo-Kawaramachi.
Architecture
Architect Geoffrey P. Moussas reveals the elements that help create a true Japanese experience through architecture, with videos showing how cedar patterns are imprinted on a building's concrete, and how large-scale washi panels are made for architectural installations.
Interior Design
Jun Tomita, who taught "the Zen of Japanese Design", discusses the Wa concepts applied in Genji Kyoto. "What you see and sense is a Japanese Wa style, but what you touch and feel is Western comfort."
Gardens
Marc Peter Keane, renowned landscape architect, artist and writer, introduces his ideas behind the Zen central garden in the lobby, the Sky Forest Garden on the roof, and private pocket gardens throughout the hotel.
